Selfie Saturday: Do something different!

If you're like me, you often find yourself in a monotonous rut as you go about your daily routine. You seem to know exactly how the day is going to go, what you're going to do, and how it will make you feel. I get stuck in my ways, do my boring routine, and complain about it later. This semester, I've been making a concerted effort to shake things up a little, so my advice for today's Selfie Saturday is...

The only way to get out of a rut is to do something different! Look at your daily life. What do you do? What do you wish you didn't do? What do you wish you could do more of? You may not be able to eliminate the unpleasant tasks, but you can definitely make a little time to try new stuff! Here are ten awesome ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

1. Get off Facebook. Seriously. Turn off the internet for a while. You'll be amazed at how many opportunities for new fun you'll find.

2. Buy a new book and read it!

3. Go to the supermarket and buy a vegetable or fruit you've never tried.

4. Rearrange the furniture in your bedroom or office.

5. Replace the old photos in your frames with new ones. And if you don't have any new pictures, well there's something else to do!

6. Buy a board game you've never played and ask a friend to join you!

7. Go to the park with the new book you've bought and find a comfy spot to read outside. If you have writing tendencies (or even if you don't) bring a journal and pencil because you never know when the mood to pen the next great piece of literature will hit.

8. Find a craft project that appeals to you. Then, go to a craft store and make it happen. It can be as complicated or as uncomplicated as you want.

9. Go to a pet store and play with some cats.

10. Once you've finished writing the next great piece of literature at the park, go find a swingset and do some flying.

Now that you have a whole list of things that will shake up your boring routine, get off this blog and go do something different!

Love,
M
